What you need

  • Portable badminton net
  • 2-4 rackets
  • Shuttlecocks

Setup

  1. Set net 5 feet high across a flat space (grass, driveway).
  2. Singles or doubles.

How to play

  1. Serve underhand diagonally into opponent's court.
  2. Rally scoring — every rally scores a point.
  3. Game to 21, win by 2 (cap at 30).
  4. Shuttlecock must land in bounds; out = point to receiver.

Host tips

  • Check the weather — have a rain plan.
  • Set clear boundaries so kids/pets don't wander off.
  • Rotate teams so everyone plays with everyone.
