Giant Checkers
Classic checkers, backyard-scale.

What you need
- Giant checkerboard mat
- 24 large checker pieces (12 per color)
Setup
- Lay board flat on grass or patio.
- Each player sets up 12 pieces on the dark squares of their 3 nearest rows.
How to play
- Move diagonally forward one square. Jump opponent's pieces to capture.
- Reach the opposite end = 'king' the piece (stack another on top). Kings move forward or backward.
- Capture all opponent pieces OR block all their moves to win.
Host tips
- Check the weather — have a rain plan.
- Set clear boundaries so kids/pets don't wander off.
- Rotate teams so everyone plays with everyone.
